In the psychoanalytic tradition, both persons and things are called ‘object’. This lecture will focus on the latter - the material objects that play a psychic role not only in childhood development, but in the development of the personality later in life. In Jungian terms, the external object becomes a symbol when it represents some unknown inner object. The notion of 'evocative objects' also underscores the inseparability of thought and feeling in our relationship to things and our selves. Evocative Objects: Things We Feel With Camilla R. She is a diplomate of CG Jung Institute Zurich, psychotherapist in private practice, lecturer at the University of Vienna, and translator of numerous books and academic articles.
