Jung on Lincoln

In a handwritten statement located in the archives of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, Jung reflected on the personal meaning of Abraham Lincoln for him as a young child in Switzerland. We are grateful to the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum of Lincoln Memorial University for providing this document, and historian Michael Burlingame for calling attention to it.

Introduction to Jung's Psychology

Most people have heard of the late C.G. Jung, often linking him vaguely with Sigmund Freud, and although the terms ‘complex’, ‘introvert’, and ‘extrovert’ are often used in everyday speech, few realize that they were coined by him.

Jung’s influence has been far-reaching, touching many of the human sciences, and his ideas have proved of value in such widely differing fields as biology and theology.

Many of his writings are technical, and even those of a general nature often appear obscure, but they contain a core of significance for everyone. This book aims at revealing this core to the reading public in language which is easily comprehensible and yet does not do violence to the subtlety and creative genius of one of the greatest modern psychologists.

Jung History

Founded in 2003 with the mission to prepare for publication the unpublished work of C. G. Jung, the Philemon Foundation is proud to have its first sponsored volume, The Jung-White Letters, in print and available to interested readers everywhere.  Our second funded volume, The Children's Dream Seminar will be published in the winter of 2007/2008.  In addition to focusing on book length unpublished writings, the Philemon Foundation also produces twice yearly Jung History, our journal that provides in-depth accounts of some of our on-going projects, groundbreaking scholarship in the expanding field of Jung history and smaller, unpublished pieces by Jung.  Thanks to The Jung Page, readers can now download from this web site all three published issues and participate in this groundbreaking endeavor. See the links below to download each issue (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).
